Surviving the Unbelievable: Remembering 9/11

bouganvilla

Shock and disbelief – that is what I experienced when Rheumatoid Arthritis rocked my world. No one really expects the worst to happen. Even pessimists turn the ignition key and expect the car to start – not explode.

That is why horrible news is staggering. We do not expect that the most dreadful things will happen on a perfectly normal day with a blue sky. And that is why we are outraged by evil.

Yes, there is evil in this world. And sickness and death. And we fight to resist them every day. We stand against them by doing right, praying for guidance, and continuing to expect the best.

We expect the sun to come up. We expect planes to stay in the sky. And we expect that someday there will be a cure to Rheumatoid Arthritis.

That is our only healthy option. We believe that life is worth the effort, hope is meaningful, and that God loves us.

Today, we cannot fail to remember the terrorist attacks on America of 9/11/01. The unbelievable did happen. And Americans were united in our shock and grief. And we remain united in our hope that it will not happen again.

I hope you will pray today for the families of the victims of 9/11/01 and for all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. We also thank God for fireman, police, and emergency personnel who protect us every day. And thank you also to people in so many other countries who have firmly stood together with Americans.
